To ensure that all New Mexicans have access to world-class cancer care and benefit from advances in cancer research, the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC)provides outstanding cancer diagnosis and treatment, conducts world-class research to discover the causes and the cures for cancer, educates the next generation of cancer healthcare professionals, and overcomes the significant cancer health disparities in the Southwest through community-based outreach programs.
The mission of the UNMCCC Office of Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) is to reduce cancer burden in New Mexico through an infrastructure that facilitates the research, clinical care, education, and outreach activities of multiple stakeholders and partners in alignment with UNMCCC strategic goals. The COE is integrated into all research, clinical and outreach/engagement components of the Cancer Center and is guided by community input on strategic decisions, priorities, and policy initiatives.
