The Secret Service protects the President and Vice President of the United States and their immediate families. President-elect, former Presidents and their wives receive their services as well. They also protect coins currency, stamps, Government bonds, checks, credit/debt card fraud, computer fraud, false identification crimes, and other obligations or securities of the United States. The agency proceeds under the Federal Deposit Insurance Act, The Federal Land Bank Act, and teh Government Losses in Shipment Act.
