Shakespeare on the Plaza
Vortex Theatre/

Shakespeare on the Plaza

Shakespeare on the Plaza, Shakespeare on the Move and the Youth Summer Shakespeare Initiative are programs which offer live productions of Shakespeare's plays for free on the Albuquerque Civic Plaza, free excerpts of those plays in schools and at senior centers, and training in the presentation of those plays  for free in the Greater Albuquerque area. Each of these components provides economic opportunities by creating paid positions for actors, technicians, instructors, designers and artisans. Additionally the live performances presented in the month of June on the Albuquerque Civic Plaza create additional economic opportunities because audience members who attend also enjoy the restaurants, bars and hotels in downtown Albuquerque.
