WNMU Museum advances understanding of the diverse cultural and artist heritages of Southwest New Mexico through research, collection, exhibition, interpretation, and exhibition; creates opportunities for visitors to experience authentic and significant artifacts and art firsthand in meaningful contexts; supports and enriches the educational mission of Western New Mexico University. WNMU Museum houses the world's largest permanent collection of Mimbres pottery.
All donations to WNMU Museum of real property, artifacts, or funds are passed through the WNMU Foundation.
Western New Mexico University Foundation Mission: The WNMU Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for scholarships, capital improvements, programs and other activities in support of the objectives and goals of Western New Mexico University. Established in 1982, the Foundation is an independent nonprofit 501 (c) 3 corporation which solicits and administers donations and endowments to meet the needs of the students, faculty, staff, facilities and operations of WNMU, which are not fulfilled through state and federal assistance. The Foundation in conjunction with the Office of Institutional Advancement conducts annual on-campus, alumni, local, regional and special event fund-raising campaigns, seeking contributions of cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, equipment, tangible property, and bequests from individuals and corporations. All gifts to the WNMU Foundation are tax deductible to the maximum allowable by law.
