Youth Development - Wildfire Mitigation

Through wildland fire and land management training, we employ and mentor at-risk youth in forest health, wildfire mitigation and safe firefighting techniques. We educate K-12 youth about natural fire processes within their environment and provide aid to communities with wildfire risk reduction and property stewardship.

Wildfire Network aims to build 3 crews of 5 youth for forest/wildfire mitigation, prescribed burn projects and aid communities in both education and implementation in partnership with Santa Fe Youthworks, Wildfire Network, and Ecotone Landscape Planning, LLC, while providing food for after school programs in Santa Fe.

As part of Santa Fe Youthworks' Verde Community Project,  we employ and mentor at-risk youth in land management and wildfire mitigation skills.  Slash from these mitigation projects is utilize either onsite as erosion control, or chipped and sent to Reunity Resources where it is composted and used in their greenhouses to grow produce.  This produce is then used in Youthworks' culinary program to create meals for local after school programs in Santa Fe.
