Wise Fool is dedicated to "changing lives, one circus at a time".
Wise Fool works extensively in public schools, libraries, and community centers across Northern New Mexico; provides performances at community events, benefits for local organizations, and participatory community processions; and features regular Performance Cabarets featuring students, locals, and visiting professional circus artists.
Year round, Wise Fool teaches circus arts as a vehicle for youth and adults to build confidence, learn and practice teamwork and mutual respect, develop trust in themselves and others, make friendships and connections across perceived social barriers, and discover their ability to shine in life as well as on stage.
Kids' Circus Camps and Afterschool Fools are available in Santa Fe, Peasco and Taos annually provide over 160 youth aged 7-14 with experiences in accomplishment, self-esteem, responsibility, trust, healthy risk-taking, respect, and teamwork.
BUST!, Wise Fool's annual Women's Circus Workshop Intensive, provides a safe space where 30 women of all ages (15-65), shapes, and ability levels can come together to share in empowering physical activities which engender personal and physical strength and belief, and which encourage trust in ourselves and one another.
Professional performances such as Circus Luminous, Coup de Circ, and Flexion provide collaborative creative work for performing artists and highlight Santa Fe's local talent for over 5400 families, tourists, and Santa Fe residents annually. We also tour across the United States. Puppet Tales, an annual participatory performances series for family audiences, explores social justice themes for an audience of over 900 in Santa Fe and Peñasco annually.
