APS Health/Mental Health Department

Helps to reduce learning obstacles due to mental health and health concerns. The department tries to improve academic success and reduce dropouts by acting as a resource to the schools. They oversee counseling, school psychologists, social workers, nurses, and Safe and Drug-Free Schools activities. Provides funding to provide the services for the mental health/health teams at each school. Professional development for the district is available to teach others about Health and Mental Health needs. Health/Mental Health Services acts as a resource for the schools supervising counseling standards, threat management protocol, suicide protocol, etc. In times of need crisis teams are used.
