American Red Cross - Military Services

A mixture of tradition and innovation, American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) means we are there alongside our troops and their families throughout the world, on stateside military installations, or in local communities far from a base. The Red Cross supports the U.S. military, providing active-duty military personnel, members of the National Guard and Reserve, veterans, and their families with worldwide, around-the-clock services.

These services fall under three general categories: Preparing for Military Life, including briefings to families on Red Cross services, holding Coping with Deployment workshops, and assisting with career services for military spouses; Responding During Difficult Times, including verifying emergencies back home, providing access to financial help during difficult times, and assisting with crisis intervention; Recovering with Medical, Family and Community Support, including providing medical and rehabilitative care through volunteers at Military Hospitals and VA Health Care Facilities, and holding Reconnection Workshops for adults and children.

For more than a century, the American Red Cross has stood beside our heroes and their families from the day they enlist, throughout their military careers and long after they return home as veterans. We provide critical services with a caring touch wherever and whenever it is needed, helping members of the U.S. military family face the unique and growing challenges associated with military life.
