The Center of Southwest Culture, Inc. (CSC) was founded in 1991 as a non-profit organization to help develop healthy Indigenous and Latino communities through economic development initiatives and educational and cultural work. CSC works primarily in New Mexico. Current Center projects and programs include: The Cooperative Development Center New Mexico (CODECE), Sembrando Salud! (SS!), Story Riders (SR), and Services to Nonprofits and Groups (SNG). SNG is a Center program that provides services to other nonprofits, groups, committees, or local organizations that need tax-exempt fiscal sponsorship and/or nonprofit programmatic and financial oversight (fees may be negotiated). This program also includes technical assistance to help groups and projects evolve into “stand-alone” tax-exempt nonprofits if they prefer. CSC is capable of handling small to large foundation, government, corporation, and/or individual grants or donations--providing quarterly and annual/final fiscal grant reports as well as income and expense reports for each group. Services (fee negotiable) include facilitation of meetings, short-and-long-term planning, board and organizational assessments, and a conference room meeting space for up to 10 people. CSC has fiscally-sponsored more than 70 New Mexico community groups with an aggregate income of more than $ 4 million.
The Center of Southwest Culture (CSC) was founded in 1991 as a nonprofit organization to help develop healthy Indigenous and Latino communities through economic development initiatives and educational and cultural work. CSC provides bilingual economic and educational initiatives to low-income, underserved Indigenous and Latino communities. These initiatives include 1) small business development, 2) cultural/environmental education, and 3) fiscal sponsorship and nonprofit services to groups that also serve low-income and underserved communities in New Mexico. CSC works to develop Indigenous and Latino communities to enable them to break through barriers that inhibit their economic and educational success.
