Early Head Start is a federally funded community-based program for low-income families with pregnant women, infants, and toddlers up to age 3. EHS promotes the school readiness of children by enhancing their cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. Early Head Start programs also provides or links families with needed services
La Madrugada Early Head Start (LMEHS) is an early education Head Start Program of the City of Albuquerque, serving over 200 families within the Albuquerque area. LMEHS supports families in thier effort to be effective and responsive parents, economically stable, and physically healthy. We work with pregnant moms and children from birth to three years old, until the child transitions to a preschool program. This innovative program offers families both center-based and Home -based programs to prepare children for school readiness. LMEHS promotes parenting skills, comprehensive health services, referrals for social services, employment assistance, and other services needed to promote optimal child development and facilitate family self-sufficiency.
