Making a Change Program provides ongoing support to at-risk youth and their families to facilitate internal change through healing contexts including weekly talking circles and regular input purification (sweat) ceremonies, as well as nontraditional leadership training. Most importantly, the organization offers a safe and healthy community context where youth can experience a sense of belonging. Practical skills training is also provided in the areas of computer literacy and job-skills for youth.
La Plazita Institute's mission is to strengthen community and enable youth to leave behind a destructive lifestyle by tapping into their own roots to express core traditional values of respect, honor, love, family, and community.
