There are two Youth Activity Centers (YAC) in Los Alamos County. One is in the Los Alamos Community Buidling (next to Ashley Pond) below the Teen Center. The other is in White Rock behind the White Rock Library.
The program provides supervised programs at no cost for youth in grades 3-8. The YAC is open every day after school, during school vacations, and during the summer. The YAC exists to provide a safe environment and to develop resiliency in youth.
The mission of Los Alamos Family Council, Inc. is to promote emotional and social well being through education, prevention, and counseling.
Los Alamos Family Council operates the LAFC Counseling Center to provide behavioral and mental health services to Los Alamos and the surrounding communities. The counseling center opened in 1962.
Los Alamos Family Council operates the Youth Activity Centers, on contract for Los Alamos County, as a prevention program for youth in grades 3rd through 8th. The Youth Activity Centers opened in 1982.
