This program provides 8-16 weeks of art after school classes for the children at Mountainair Elementary.
These classes range from music, dance, clay, and painting, to repurpose/recycle projects, shadow boxes, and hand silk-screened t-shirts.
Children are also offered a free snack before the session begins and an open house where they have the opportunity to perform or display their completed art projects.
The Manzano Mountain Art Council (MMAC) works to showcase the talents of our mountain and valley communities or rural central New Mexico, encourage connections with nature, people and cultural history, inspire and nurture youth, foster creativity, celebrate diversity and drive economic opportunity. The Manzano Mountain Art Council (MMAC) conducts art education and enrichment programs for youth in schools and Land Grant communities, supports the economic development of the area by offering business opportunities for artists and performers, holds free or inexpensive visual and performing arts programs, sponsors community festivals and events, and partners with organizations to enhance the development of work-related skills, literacy levels, environmental sustainability, and economic growth of the community.
