Adults who need to learn English literacy and language skills below grade 6 qualify for services.
The NMCL Operating Assistance Grant program provides adult literacy programs and projects with funding for general operations. The NMCL Materials Grant program provides these same entities with funding for instructional materials, such as books and software for instruction.
The NMCL Training and Technical Assistance program provides adult literacy programs and projects with tutor, board, and staff training free of charge for in-service, pre-service, and professional development. The NMCL also provides consultation services to adult literacy programs under this grant program and outreach in the form of advocacy, public policy, conferences, networking, information sharing, and media relations. The NMCL operates a toll-free hotline, sponsored by KOAT-TV, to facilitate outreach through its Public Service Announcements that are aired on television and radio stations statewide.
