Since 1985, Safer New Mexico Now has worked in cooperation with the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) Traffic Safety Bureau (TSB) and state law enforcement agencies to develop, coordinate, implement, and monitor state efforts to promote traffic safety. As a private, nonprofit organization, Safer effectively coordinates innovative traffic safety programs and partnerships that promote the combined use of law enforcement, marketing campaigns, media, and education. Safer advocates for increased motor vehicle occupant protection and decreased traffic-related death and injury.
Safer New Mexico Now (Safer) was founded in 1985 with the goal of reducing deaths and injuries on New Mexico's roadways. Safer advocates for informed policy-making, provide education, support law enforcement, offer resources, and nurture public understanding. Safer continues to lead effective efforts to advance traffic safety across the State, with the belief that the best way to battle traffic-related death and injury is through education and prevention.
