Provides opportunities to community members and visitors to enjoy the Rio Grande ecosystem by birdwatching, hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping and fishing along the river at the 13 river parks developed by the Task Force and on the two mile trail along the bosque. The Socorro Nature Area (managed by the BLM) and Escondida Lake (managed by Socorro County) are also recreation opportunities. The Task Force hosts the annual Bosque Conservation Day for area schools in October. The Task Force leads trash pickup days to clean up along the bosque twice per year.
Works to preserve, protect, and enhance the Rio Grande river and its adjoining riparian area while respecting the customs and cultures of the residents of Socorro County to provide for public recreation, allow for historical resource use, and plan for public safety.
