Wildfire Protection

The Task Force works with area agencies and landowners to create defensible space and hazardous fuels reduction projects on their lands to protect area homes and unique wildlife habitat within the bosque in our program area (Socorro County, NM).  Public outreach to landowners and communities within the bosque (riparian forest) includes education on wildfire behavior, suppression techniques and limitations, and safety policies.  BLM, Socorro County, and NM State Forestry are key leaders in this work.
