USBC offers free, HUD-certified housing counseling for foreclosure prevention to New Mexico homeowners, regardless of income, who are struggling to make mortgage payments or who have been sued for foreclosure in the New Mexico district courts. Housing counselors assist homeowners to work with their lenders on programs designed to get the mortgage back on track or transition from the home with dignity and with as little credit damage as possible. USBC also offers free legal services to income-qualified New Mexico homeowners who have been sued for foreclosure in the New Mexico district courts.
USBC's mission is to stabilize low-income neighborhoods and families through fair housing and fair lending initiatives, youth programs, community revitalization and community building. USBC seeks to prevent homelessness and financial devastation by reducing foreclosures and predatory lending; protect equity and increase access to fair credit for low-income families; and support fair housing practices and promote homeownership in low-income neighborhoods. |
