Provide low-income students with: 1) free and affordable artistic training, life skills, academic support, paid internships and entrepreneurial opportunities during our after school and summer workshops; 2) collaborative projects led by paid, professional artist mentors from diverse communities; 3) the training and tools to become agents of change through creative expression; 4) free access to museums, galleries, theater productions, concerts and other cultural events.
Working Classroom cultivates the artistic, civic, and academic minds of youth through in-depth arts projects with contemporary artists to amplify historically ignored voices, resist systemic injustices, and imagine a more equitable society. We support and connect our students to professional opportunities so they contribute to the creative economy and build a better world. WC believes that the arts are key to building a sustainable and creative workforce. We strive to increase the representation of youth of color pursuing creative careers and/or acheiving higher education.
