The Farm Fresh Mobile Market is La Semilla's newest initiative and first of its kind in the Paso del Norte region. Funded by a USDA Community Food Project grant, the 12-foot school bus converted into a market on wheels began to roll in August 2016, with routes in 5 food desert communities in Southern New Mexico and plans for additional routes. Our Farm Fresh Mobile Market supports healthy eating and healthy living by bringing fresh food and SNAP benefits to food desert areas and with education that addresses our region’s need to increase fruit and vegetable consumption and improve health outcomes for our children, families, and communities.
La Semilla Food Center's mission is to build a healthy, self-reliant, fair, and sustainable food system in the Paso del Norte region of southern New Mexico and El Paso, Texas. We work with children, youth, and families to build awareness around food issues, provide informed analysis, and create alternatives for healthier environments and communities.
